About the Music

In 1978 guitarist Jimmy Wyble recorded and released an album called “Etudes” on the Jazz Chronicles record label which contained nineteen of the twenty five Etudes that he had originally composed and recorded for the guitar back at that time. For reasons unknown, Etudes One through Six were not included as part of that album release. As fate would have it, Jimmy did indeed record Etudes One through Six as solo electric guitar pieces which range in length from thirty seconds to one and a half minutes each.

When Jimmy passed away in 2010 he left the original reel-to-reel master tapes of these Etudes to his close friend and student, guitarist Sid Jacobs. Many years ago Sid had the orginal reel-to-reel master tapes transferred and preserved digitally by musician/producer Jay Graydon. Art of Life Records and Sid Jacobs are pleased to make these previously unreleased recordings available for the first time ever in the form of digital downloads in WAV audio file format. Also included with the audio files are transcriptions of all six Etudes in standard musical notation with fingerings in PDF file format. Available exclusively via the Art of Life Records web site.
